The website is sponsored by China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center (CHESICC) and run by Student Information Consulting Services Ltd., a company held by CHESICC. With an integrated database of college admissions, student records, qualification certificates, employment information and student loans, CHSI website has set up the information platform for “Sunshine” College Entrance Examination, student records and qualification information platform, postgraduate student enrollment information network, student loans information platform and the platform for universities in mainland China to enroll students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is also responsible for over 20 information systems, including online qualification certificate inquiries and verifications, online registration for postgraduate entrance exam, postgraduate enrollment information, postgraduate transfer, college student loans, online office system for verifying qualification certificates, etc.
In July 2004, the Ministry of Education issued Jiaoxue [2004] No. 25 Notice and designated CHSI as the only website for qualification certificate inquires and the State would not recognize any qualification certificate which is not registered in CHSI.
In May 2005, CHSI set up the platform for Sunshine College Entrance Examination and and published the enrollment information of all the colleges and universities. It also began to hold the annual event of National College Admission Online Consulting Week during which all higher educational institutions respond to inquiries and questions from students online;
In July 2006, Chinese Postgraduate Admissions Information Network changed its domain name and became CHSI website postgraduate channel. This is the designated website by the postgraduate entrance examination committee of MOE that all online registration and admission must be done on this website.
According to the 2006 ranking issued by the American ALEXA website, CHSI took the first place among all the Chinese educational websites.
中国高等教育学生信息网
中国高等教育学生信息网(简称“学信网”)由全国高等学校学生信息咨询与就业指导中心(以下简称“中心”)主办，由中心控股的学信咨询服务有限公司承办。学信网依托中心建立的集高校招生、学籍学历、毕业生就业和全国高校学生资助信息一体化的大型数据仓库，开通“阳光高考”信息平台、学籍学历信息管理平台、中国研究生招生信息网、全国高校学生资助信息管理平台、内地高校面向港澳台招生信息网等平台，开通学历查询系统、在线验证系统、硕士研究生网上报名和录取检查系统、硕士研究生招生调剂服务系统、全国高校学生资助管理系统、学历认证网上办公系统等20余个信息系统。
学信网大事记：2004年7月教育部发布教学[2004]25号公告，把学信网作为中国高等教育学历证书查询指定的唯一网站；2005年1月开通学信人才频道；2005年5月开通教育部“阳光高考”信息平台，并每年举办“全国普通高校招生网上咨询周”活动；2006年1月开通学籍学历信息管理平台；2006年6月开通国际教育频道；2006年7月中国研究生招生信息网变更域名，成为学信网的研招频道；根据美国alexa网站2006年公布的动态排名，学信网已跻身中国教育类网站第一的位置；2007年1月开通就业频道，原学信人才频道整合到就业频道，2007年4月开通校园频道。
